About this collection

The first World War demanded much from Arkansas. The Arkansas National Guard was incorporated into the U.S. Army, cotton prices rose with the need for uniforms and bandages, the lead and zinc mining industry grew rapidly, factories were built to make weaponry, all while 71,000 soldiers from Arkansas served, creating a massive labor shortage in the state. Items from the Arkansas State Archives' collection of WWI materials have been digitized here and made available.
