Thirty people were reported to have been killed in a disastrous tornado which swept Brinkley, Ark., a town of 4000 inhabitants, in March of 1909. Fires following the storm added to the damage, and nearly the entire town was destroyed. The property loss, according to conservative business men of the town at the time, was estimated to be $1,000,000.
